Scholarship Opportunities

Donations from generous individuals, families, foundations and corporations provide financial assistance to strengthen Reading Recovery in the United States and Canada.
All scholarships will be awarded through national competitions administered by the Reading Recovery Council of North America, Inc.  Recipients of all scholarships agree to:

  • register for the professional development opportunity by the date required,
  • share the experience and learning with colleagues,
  • provide RRCNA with a short report of the impact of attending the professional development opportunity,
  • give their permission for RRCNA to send a copy of their comments to the scholarship sponsor and/or use any portion of this report in any RRCNA publication,
  • send a photo and give permission to RRCNA to use it in any RRCNA publication promoting the professional development opportunity, RRCNA or the scholarship sponsor, and
  • permit RRCNA to announce the award to any local media and/or school district and provide RRCNA copies of any publicity that occurs.

Completed applications must be postmarked by the posted deadline date. Incomplete applications will not be considered. *Please note: all applications become the property of RRCNA and will not be returned.


Teacher Leader Training Scholarships for the 2010-2011 School Year
Five Reading Recovery Teacher Leader training scholarship are available from Hameray/Yuen Family Foundation, Pioneer Valley Educational Press, Inc., and RRCNA Teacher Leader Training Scholarships. 

The purpose of the Teacher Leader Training Scholarship is to provide support for the initial training of teacher leaders, which consists of a full time, one year postgraduate course at one of the Reading Recovery university training centers. School districts located in the United States are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

These scholarships will be administered and judged by the Reading Recovery Council of North America. Applications will be judged using the following criteria:
• Academic and economic need
• District planning, commitment, and support of Reading Recovery
• Reading Recovery’s fit with the district/site’s comprehensive literacy plans
• Qualifications and leadership potential of teacher leader candidate
• Trainer recommendation

The deadline for submission was June 1.  Results will be announced by mid-July.
