Frequently Asked Questions About Live Webinars and Webcasts on Demand
What is the difference between the RRCNA webinars and webcasts?
- RRCNA webinars are live presentations that include
opportunity for questions and answers.
- RRCNA webcasts on demand are prerecorded and sent as
streaming video to your computer. Some webcast presentations
were broadcast earlier as webinars, and some are edited
conference presentations by noted speakers.
What equipment will I need for RRCNA webinars and webcasts?
- Both webinars and webcasts need a computer with a high speed
(broadband) connection.
For live webinars, the audio comes through a phone line. Besides
your computer with a high speed connection, you will need a
speaker-phone or a phone with a hands-free option.
- For webcasts on demand, audio and video are both delivered
by computer so you do not need a separate phone line.
What is a broadband connection?
DSL lines, a cable company line, or a T1 line are all broadband
connections. Dial-up connections through your telephone are slower
and do not have enough bandwidth to reliably send streaming video
such as the RRCNA webcasts.
Can more than one person attend for a single registration fee?
Registration is based on your computer address. That means more
than one person can participate during a webinar or webcast. In many
schools, colleagues watch on a single computer then discuss content.
NOTE: Audio for
RRCNA's live webinars transmits
via phone line, NOT your computer speakers. For best results, you
will need a phone with "speaker phone" option, or a "handsfree
headset." If you are watching this session with a group, you will
need to be sure your speaker phone has enough volume to reach
everyone in the room.
Webcasts (pre-recorded) session deliver audio through the computer
so speaker volume usually does not limit group size, but you should
always test your computer's audio capabilities before streaming the
recording.
Can more than one certificate of attendance be issued?
Certificates of attendance can be downloaded and printed for
anyone who attends an RRCNA webinar or webcast.
Why do webcast on demand presentations sometimes hesitate or stop
while I’m watching?
Webcast on demand presentations are pre-recorded and are sent to
you as streaming video. Usually if a video stops in the middle it is
because more information is downloading. It should begin shortly.
